About Us

We're a group of advocacy-minded youth with a shared belief that voting is so, so important.

We created this project as a part of the AWAKE (Advocacy for Women's and Kid's Equity) Student Advisory Board, and are incredibly grateful to the organization for giving us the experience and guidance to put together this project. We all hope that this site can help you to participate in democracy. We the people!

Jailyn Berryhill

Hello, my name is Jailyn Berryhill. I am a senior at Hillsboro High School (‘23). I joined AWAKE because the action of speaking for those who are unable to stand up for themselves intrigues me. Advocation is unquestionably the vehicle for the ultimate future of our country. AWAKE has also educated me about the insides of policies and our government. We, as AWAKE, have created a website that educates Tennessee residents about the rigorous process of voting and its importance in seeing a change in our communities.

Sinead Mukolo-Villegas

Hi! My name is Sinead Mukolo-Villegas, and I’m a freshman at Belmont University (‘26). I am currently the President of AWAKE’s Student Advisory Board. I wanted to join AWAKE because it’s a great organization known for helping people in Nashville, and I wanted to be a part of that journey. This year’s project for helping TN youth to register to vote really spoke to me, especially since that was a process I really struggled with my senior year, and I’m excited to help other people my age have an easier time navigating the process.

Jacie Nisperos

Hello! I’m Jacie Nisperos. I am currently a senior at Pope John Paul Preparatory School (‘23). I am the Media and Content Editor for the student board of AWAKE. Joining AWAKE has taught me to help others in need as well as help advocate for others who are unable to do so themselves. As someone who will be a first generation voter, our website is very beneficial and helpful for those who are confused or have trouble understanding the process and the importance of voting.

Blessyn Nkrumah

Hi! My name is Blessyn Nkrumah and I currently attend Valor College Prep Highschool. As a junior on the AWAKE Student Advisory Board, I’ve learnt so much about the issues faced by youth across TN, specifically low youth voter turnout, and have gotten the opportunity to help brainstorm a solution to this. I’m passionate about humanitarian initiatives, social issues and executing projects that will be beneficial to every person who encounters it. I hope anyone who sees the website is able to gather new knowledge on the significance of voting, find answers to questions they have and understand that everyone has the right to dissent!

Avery Roth

Hey there! My name is Avery, I'm a senior at Hillsboro High School ('23), and I'm so pumped to share this resource with people! I know firsthand how confusing government websites and information can be, and I've made it a mission of mine to help make civic engagement more accessible for everyone. Being a part of the AWAKE Student Advisory Board has been a learning experience where I've been able to better understand inequities faced by different groups. All in all, one of the most effective ways to work towards equity and representation is voting, and that's why I'm so proud to help voting access through this project!

Annslee Ware

Hi! My name is Annslee Ware, and I am a senior at Pope John Paul Preparatory School (‘23). I am the treasurer for AWAKE’s student advisory board. I am passionate about advocating for people who can’t speak for themselves, and I continuously volunteer to help anyone in need. The website we created is very beneficial because I can vote this year, and I was unaware of the restrictions and requirements to vote. Hopefully, this website can do the same for others, encourage more people to vote, and help them realize their vote matters.
